What are innate immune system receptors called?

Pattern recognition receptors

What do they recognise?

PAMPS: Pathogen Associated Molecular Patterns

Where can they be found?

1. Bound to the cell membranes

2. Inside the cell itself: cytoplasm

3. Extracellularly: in the serum

What can they recognise?

1. Bacteria

2. Viruses

3. Fungi

What can be used to recognise?

LRR: Leucine Rich Repeats

What effect can they cause?

1. Activation of gene transcription

2. Phagocytosis
